HIT 101 - Introduction to Health Information Technology This is the first course in the Health Information Technology (HIT) program, and is designed to introduce the student to the HIT profession and record keeping practices in healthcare. Emphasis will be placed on the role HIT professionals play in healthcare organizations, as well as health information infrastructure, record content in both electronic and paper records, documentation requirements, healthcare data sets, HIT-related taxonomies and an introduction to technology in HIT. Due to the foundational nature of the courses in the HIT program, courses are to be taken in the order described in the model schedule. Prerequisite(s): Acceptance to the Health Information Technology program 4 credits = 3 lecture , 1 laboratory
