BIO 206 - Microbiology This course provides a general study of microorganisms. Major topics considered in this course include microbial taxonomy, anatomy and physiology of microorganisms, microbial basis of disease, and economic significance of microorganisms. Medical microbiology concepts including communicable diseases, host defenses, and microbial control are covered. Techniques of culture, identification, and control of microorganisms are emphasized in the laboratory. Prerequisite(s): BIO 101 or BIO 110 or BIO 160 or BIO 271 or BIO 100 (inactive course) or permission of instructor 5 credits plus 2 contact hours = 3 lecture, 4 laboratory
