ASSOCIATE IN APPLIED ARTS AND SCIENCE DEGREE
Students of the Engineering Graphics Technology program take a series of courses covering the principles of Engineering Graphics that provide extensive laboratory experience, stressing the application of those principles. This program provides hands-on experience to prepare students for employment in association with engineers and designers. The diversity of the curriculum provides opportunities for students to develop proficiency in specialized areas such as Bodyline Design, Tool and Die, and Injection Mold Design.
While most graduates enter the job market as engineering graphics technicians and work with engineers in the preparation of technical drawings, some graduates enter fields where they are responsible for the interpretation and implementation of drawings. Technologists may also become designers and assist engineers in preparing design details and specifications for engineering projects.
Program Outcomes/Objectives:
When students complete this program, they will be able to:
- Develop two-dimensional engineering designs in accordance with ASME standards utilizing CADD.
- Create constructive solid geometry using three-dimensional CADD solid modeling software.
- Design manufacturing tooling using three-dimensional engineering design software.

* Students must take both ETG 110 & ETG 120 if no previous drafting experience - see program advisor for recommendation, or contact the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math Division at (810) 989-5754; ETG 180 - Engineering Graphics , may be taken as a replacement for ETG 110 & ETG 120 ; see program advisor.
** Students have the option of taking SPC 101 as a replacement for ETW 170 . All welding courses (except ETW 170 ) are taught in an individualized, self-paced, open lab basis. Class times are available both days and evenings.
*** Students have the option of taking MTH 112 as a replacement for MTH 110 and MTH 111 .
A transfer agreement exists with Wayne State University. See program advisor for details on transfer of credit. Students must complete a minimum of 63 credits for degree completion.
