ASSOCIATE IN APPLIED ARTS AND SCIENCE DEGREE
Graphic design merges computer-aided technology with visual thought. Students in the Graphic Design degree program at St. Clair County Community College will learn to solve visual communication problems through a comprehensive program of study that incorporates basic design principles, typography and advanced production technology. Courses completed will support transfer to other institutions and offer entry-level training in the field of print design.
PROGRAM OUTCOMES/OBJECTIVES:
When students complete this program, they will be able to:
- demonstrate creative and aesthetic talents with a visual body of work
- present professional skills and behaviors to compete as a graphic designer in the current marketplace
- identify the influence of major cultural and aesthetic trends, both historical and contemporary in art and design
- solve creative problems that can connect with an intended audience using visual, oral and written presentation skills
- evaluate and execute visual work using professional terminology based on an understanding of art and design.
