CERTIFICATE
This program is designed for individuals who desire employment on paramedic ambulances, fire department ALS units, or hospital emergency rooms requiring paramedic skills. Proof of completion of an EMT course must be provided on the first day of class. Students must be a licensed EMT by the end of the first semester and successfully complete all required coursework including National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians Paramedic Portfolio and Commission on Accreditation of Emergency Medical Technician Program Appendix G requirements as approved by advisory committee. Those students who successfully complete the Paramedic program are eligible to take the National Registry Paramedic certification exam and then apply for a Michigan Paramedic License.

Program Outcomes/Objectives:
When students complete this program, they will be able to:
- identify emergent patient conditions and perform life-saving measures.
- integrate effective communication and critical thinking skills into the role of an entry level professional within the health care community.
- demonstrate personal behaviors consistent with professional and employer expectations of an entry-level paramedic.
- demonstrate technical proficiency in all of the skills necessary to fulfill the role of an entry-level paramedic.
