ENG 238 - Gender and Sexuality in Literature This is a literature course that will introduce students to literature, popular culture, and critical theory centrally concerned with issues of gender and sexual identity. Through careful reading, class discussion, and critical writing, students will be invited to broaden their perspective on gender and sexuality beyond those offered by the dominant culture. Students will be able to better understand how gender, gender identity, gender expression, and biological sex can reinforce or subvert the patriarchy and heteronormativity while intersecting with issues such as race, ableism, social and economic class, ethnicity, and religion. Prerequisite(s): ENG 101 Corequisite(s): None 3 credits = 3 lecture
