CIS 200 - Spreadsheets This course focuses on the capabilities, features and usage of electronic spreadsheet software. Particular attention is given to the application of these spreadsheet tools in the solution of practical problems from business, finance, science and other areas. Through lecture and hands-on exercises, students will examine the skills which are needed to make effective use of spreadsheets including: worksheet design, problem organization, use of advanced functions, data analysis, advanced charts and graphs, spreadsheet automation and presentation of results. This course will also assist students in preparing for the Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) certifications in Excel. Students who have not had experience in spreadsheet data entry, basic formatting, creating formulas and using basic functions such as SUM, AVERAGE, IF and PMT should complete CIS 115 Microcomputer Applications prior to taking CIS 200 Spreadsheets. Prerequisite(s): None (CIS 115 recommended) 4 credits = 4 lecture /laboratory
