Engineering Technology - Welding and Fabricating, AAS

Program Code: AASEW

Welding has become a nearly universal process in manufacturing, construction, agriculture and various service industries. It also has many personal uses in terms of home and workshop projects as well as applications in the field of art.

This program will provide the student with a technical background in the welding field in addition to entry-level (or above) employment skills in the following:  Oxyacetylene Welding, Brazing and Cutting (OAW), Electric Arc Welding (SMAW), TIG Welding (GTAW) as well as introduction to CAD and Mechatronics.



When students complete this program, they will be able to:

  1. pass an A.W.S. certification test in multiple processes in multiple positions
  2. interpret complex engineering drawings
  3. fabricate weldments in accordance to engineering drawings.

Suggested Course Sequence

2nd Semester - 15 Credit/17 - 21 Contact Hours

3rd Semester - 14 Credit/25 Contact Hours

4th Semester - 16 Credit/23 - 28 Contact Hours

62 Total Credit/90 - 99 Total Contact Hours

*Students have the option of taking MTH 110  or MTH 112  or higher as a replacement for ETM 107 .  Students who plan to transfer should contact an advisor and schedule an appointment.  The advisor can help determine which mathematics credits will transfer to other colleges and universities, thus maximizing the transfer credits.

**Recommended Electives: ETE 100 ETE 165  or ETM 110 .
