The Therapeutic Massage program is a cooperative effort between St. Clair County Community College (SC4) and Lakewood School of Therapeutic Massage (Lakewood). The program combines occupational-specific courses at Lakewood and general education courses with the required competencies for graduation from SC4. Students must complete the graduation requirements at Lakewood and successfully complete an additional 36 credits. A minimum of 18 credits must be completed at SC4.
Note: It is also highly recommended that graduates of this program also complete the national certification examination offered by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork.
PROGRAM OUTCOMES/OBJECTIVES:
When students complete this program, they will be able to:
1. integrate college level competencies into their professional practice in therapeutic massage.
2. apply business principles into their professional practice in therapeutic massage.
3. incorporate psychosocial aspects of care in their professional practice in therapeutic massage.
