Program Code: AASEM
ASSOCIATE IN APPLIED ARTS AND SCIENCE DEGREE

This program of study prepares students to work in the growing field of Mechatronics. It combines technical skills from the computer, electrical/electronic and mechanical disciplines to develop well-rounded, multi-skilled technicians who can design, install, program, integrate, service and troubleshoot Mechatronic components and systems.

Mechatronics, also known as mechatronic engineering, is a multidisciplinary branch of engineering that focuses on the engineering of both electrical and mechanical systems, and includes a combination of robotics, electronics, computer telecommunications, systems control, and product engineering. Technicians have a 2-year degree; engineers have a 4-year or 6-year degree. Mechatronics technicians are also known as industrial automation technicians, robotic technicians, control technicians, and mechanical technicians.

PROGRAM OUTCOMES/OBJECTIVES:

When students complete this program, they will be able to:

  1. interface and program a programmable logic controller
  2. interface and program robots
  3. analyze and build fluid power and control logic circuits.

Suggested Course Sequence

60 Total Credit/98 Total Contact Hours

* Students have the option of taking MTH 1010 , MTH 1011 , MTH 1020  or MTH 1120  or higher as a replacement for ETM 107 . Students who plan to transfer should contact an advisor and schedule an appointment.  The advisor can help determine which mathematics credits will transfer to other colleges and universities, thus maximizing the transfer credits.

** Or ENG 100
