ASSOCIATE IN APPLIED ARTS AND SCIENCE DEGREE
Graphic design merges computer-aided technology with visual thought. Students in the Graphic Design degree program at St. Clair County Community College will learn to solve visual communication problems through a comprehensive program of study that incorporates basic design principles, typography and advanced production technology. Courses completed will support transfer to other institutions and offer entry-level training in the field of print design.
Program Outcomes/Objectives:
When students complete this program, they will be able to:
- demonstrate creative and aesthetic talents with a visual body of work,
- present professional skills and behaviors to compete as a graphic designer in the current marketplace,
- identify the influence of major cultural and aesthetic trends, both historical and contemporary in art and design,
- solve creative problems that can connect with an intended audience using visual, oral and written presentation skills,
- evaluate and execute visual work using professional terminology based on an understanding of art and design.

* ACD 241 can be substituted for ACD 240 .
** MTH 102 or higher. Some transfer degree programs require MTH 110 or MTH 112 or higher for transfer credit. Students are strongly encouraged to meet with representatives from their prospective transfer school to ensure course transferability.
