GD 210 - Typography I This course introduces students to the art and mechanics of typography, focusing on typographic design from basic letterforms to advanced type composition. Students learn the anatomy of typefaces, the refinement of type spacing, and the classification of type families. Emphasis is placed on typographic systems, grid-based layout methods, and the historical and contemporary practices that shape modern typography. Fall offering only. Prerequisite(s): GD 140 3 credits plus 3 contact hours = 1 lecture, 5 laboratory
