ASSOCIATE IN APPLIED ARTS AND SCIENCE DEGREE
Students in web development create web pages and sites for desktop browsers and mobile devices by working with web services and mobile apps using technologies such as HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript. The degree includes technical and supporting courses in computer information systems and web design, as well as training in the business relations skills needed to function effectively as a web developer. Graduates normally find jobs developing and maintaining web sites for a wide range of organizations.
Program Outcomes/Objectives:
When students complete this program, they will be able to:
- design web pages and sites using appropriate web-based technologies with graphical and interactive elements,
- develop interactive web sites utilizing client side scripting technologies,
- develop dynamic web sites utilizing server side scripting technologies,
- be prepared to pass at least one entry-level web development certification based on practice test scores (e.g. CIW Web Foundations Site Development Associate),
- be prepared to pass at least one mid-level web development certification based on practice test scores (e.g. CIW Web Design Specialist, CIW JavaScript Specialist),
- communicate both in writing and verbally about computing and business concepts using technical terms effectively in order to secure and maintain employment.
