Academic Advising


 


Academic advisors/coaches provide students with a variety of informational and support services essential to college, career and employment success. The office provides comprehensive support services including academic advising and educational planning to students related to course needs in alignment with academic programs. The office also provides enrollment and registration information and guidance to prospective and current students, as well as guides students on using Student Planning to create course schedules, monitor degree progress, pay for college and more.

Appointments

Academic advising appointments can be scheduled in person, by phone or online, typically from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, as well as in the evenings and on weekends. Students can visit sc4.edu/support-services/advising/ to schedule an appointment and find additional information.

TRIO - Student Support Services

TRIO - Student Support Services is a federally funded retention program. The mission of TRIO is to retain and graduate students and to assist in completion of their educational goals, including supporting students to maintain satisfactory academic achievement, complete degrees and transfer to a university. The program serves highly motivated students who are first-generation (neither parent graduated from a four-year college), low income (those who qualify for the Pell Grant may be eligible) and/or have a documented disability.

Eligible students receive:

  • Individualized tutoring
  • One-on-one mentoring
  • Cultural enrichment activities
  • Personalized academic advising
  • Priority registration for SC4 classes
  • Financial aid and scholarship application assistance
  • Transfer planning, including visits to selected colleges/universities
  • Specialized workshops
