CHM 102 - Introduction to Organic and Biochemistry

The organic chemistry segment considers the carbon atom, the classical functional groups, their definition, structure and bonding, systematic nomenclature, physical properties, and particular reactions relevant to biochemistry.  The biochemistry segment examines fundamental organic molecules that occur in living organisms (biomolecules), and the dynamic sequential reactions that interrelate these molecules.  The laboratory is used to enrich the student’s experience demonstrating techniques and relating to the topics under consideration. Offered winter semester only.
Prerequisite(s): CHM 101
